Lack of School building worries Students
Lack of School building is the most pressing problem for the students of High School Warpora. Students are forced to study in an open farm as their school building is still under construction for the last 4 years.
Way back in 2004 government upgraded the middle school and accorded it the status of High school. In this sequel, construction of new school building was started to accommodate the new batch of students. Unfortunately, as of now building is still incomplete. More than 300 students enrolled in the school have to face immense hardships.
Students and teachers are equally worried about the school, as they do not have any clue about the development of infrastructure. Neither there are chairs nor tables; even there are no facilities for the students to sit. This indifferent attitude of government has also demoralised the students who are not showing much interest in the study. In this way education of the students is getting affected adversely. We hope that our pleas for a school building would be answered soon.

Civic amenities for the Village Asham seems distant dream
Deprived of basic civic amenities, Inhabitants of Village Asham Sonawari are living in almost subhuman conditions. The residents of this Village requested government several times to take notice of their areas but of no avail. Chief Minister assured us in various public meetings that basic civic problems will be resolved however, to our utter dismay, nothing substantial has come to fore. Instead government disappointed us in all fronts. Lack of basic facilities such as water, electricity, sanitation and access to health services make the people highly vulnerable.
Government redressed problems confronted by the politically volatile areas like Lar, Khan Sahib, Budgam, Kangan, Anantnag etc, let alone Asham. We highlighted our problems in media. Nevertheless, even this could not sensitise government to pay heed towards this neglected areas. We once again request the Hon’ble CM G.N.Azad to visit our Village and take the stock of situation so that our problems are resolved.

Shrinking Lakes
It is because of illogical and flawed plans of development by the government from time to time that most of the water bodies have been deteriorated at large extent. Take for instance the Construction of foreshore road which played key role in further deterioration of Dal Lake.
Our lakes have been encroached upon, silted and polluted at alarming rate with nobody seems concerned about the plight of these water bodies.
The major outlets of the lake are also being choked by mushrooming growth of weed and algae that have flourished as untreated sewage from nearby settlements are directly flushed in the lakes. Most of the Lake dwellers living around it dump all their sewerage as also the solid waste into the Lake directly. In our case, the maximum efforts witnessed are environmental campaigns, pledges, processions, and marches. The preservation and restoration measures have been outstripped by the speed of deterioration. There is no denying that we have aroused from slumber sleep of late? Had government and public acted swiftly in time this problem would have not aroused?

Collapsed drainage poses serious health hazards
The uncovered and ‘unwanted’ sewerage due to choked drains is posing serious health hazards to the people living in the vicinity of central Jail. Drainage water flows in the open owing to the collapse of drainage network. The nearby park which has been constructed at the cost of 70 Lakhs in memoriam of martyrs has now become breeding ground for filth and sewage water. The accumulated sewerage enters in to the nearby houses. During this process, it spreads a foul smell and the stench becomes unbearable for people living in the area.
Moreover, it has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and a major cause for diseases leading to serious health hazard. Officials of the municipal corporation, even after receiving a number of complaints, did not pay any attention.Inorder to mitigate this problem the construction work of new drainage was started .However, after six months its construction was abruptly halted due to the reasons best known to authorities. Even after intimating higher authorities no sustained efforts had been made so far to address this issue.

Unwarranted delay in issue of Passports
My recent experience has left me convinced that those in charge of issuing passports to the citizens are good for nothing. Despite getting clearance from CID and police verification, officials in passport office are unnecessarily delaying issue of passport on one pretext or another. The authorities told me that the passport will be posted at my home address within 10 days. A month passed by, yet I have not received my passport. When I tried to contact the office they simply gave me lame excuses .There was no escaping the conclusion that the officials at the passport office works at snail’s pace causing lot of inconvenience to public.

Heavy haul of problems
The road at Hamdani Colony leading to the bus stop is in a shambles. Several protests staged by residents with a demand to level the uneven and bumpy road surface have gone unnoticed. The demand for a proper road is more than four years old. Moreover; the area also remains awash with filth and sewage water due to choked drains. Come rainfall, denizens of the locality have to keep their fingers crossed as they attempt to save themselves from the inevitable outbreak of disease. However, concerned authorities are in no mood to resolve this problem.

Road Dust - a biting problem for residents of Gulberg Colony
The VIP status accorded to Gulberg colony Hyderpora turns out to be misnomer the moment one delves deep. Much to the chagrin of residents, roads have not seen asphalt for years now and wear a battered look. Moreover; dust raised by the constant movement of vehicles is a cause of concern for the residents as there is every chance of getting asthama. People are facing lot of inconvenience on account of government negligence. Maintenance of roads would check the problem to a large extent. Hence,
we request the government to take major initiatives in order to macadamise the roads.

No respite from Power Cuts, Short-circuit
The electricity woes of this area have not been reduced despite assurance from the authorities to repair the defective transformer. There is frequent power fluctuation due to heavy load on the transformer. Short circuits take place because of friction of electric wires, as they are loosely connected and many years old. We had written to the electricity department many times, apprising them of the problems of frequent short circuits due to which the overhead hanging electric wires often caught fire, but no action was ever taken. Relief for consumers seems a distant dream.
