Polluted water supplied to Samboora Village

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
The inhabitants of Village Samboora and Patel Bagh, Tehsil Pampore are being supplied with the untreated drinking water by Public Health Engineering Department directly from the river Jehlum. This practice continues for the last four months. Before this, the water was treated properly at the filtration plant prior to supply.
The plant which was constructed at the cost of several lakhs of rupees has been rendered now non functional. There is something fishy in the department which they hide from the public. This indifferent attitude of the department was brought in to the notice of concerned DC, but all in vain. All the officials in the administration seem to be incompetent and inefficient in addressing our grievance. Through this message I request the higher authorities to make this department accountable. Moreover they should hold the P.H.E. Department responsible for the failure of the water treatment plant.
Further, as water from the river is highly unhygienic there is every chance of making people sick with diarrhoea and vomiting. We request once again higher authorities to make some alternative arrangements so that this village receives pure drinking water.
