Hanief breaks up ties with PDP

Srinagar,October 31: Chairman of Kashmir resolution movement and former Hurriyat leader Abdul Khaliq Hanief, who had joined the Peoples Democratic Party few months ago, has parted away from the party over the issue of participation in the upcoming assembly elections..
According to a local news agency, Abdul Khaliq Hanief said that Mufti Mohmmad Syed, the party patron of PDP had assured him that the party would not contest the elections till a solution to the Kashmir issue was not reached at.
“The announcement of contesting the upcoming elections on October 28 by the party high command is against the sentiments and wishes of the peoples of the Kashmir valley,” a news service quoted Hanief as saying.
Hanief who was a member of Jamat-i- Islami and Hurriyat conference has launched his own party Kashmir resolution Movement in the year 2002 and contested the elections.
The Party yesterday announced its break-up with the PDP and stated that the party would not contest the elections and would keep away all the party workers from the election process.
He appealed to his party worker to help him in assisting the victims of the Intifada and remain away from poll process.
He stated that from the last 61 years, the millions of peoples across the sub-continent are in the continuous threat from the situation which had happened due to the Kashmir conflict.
He said that he had joined hands with the PDP after the party showed the interest in the resolution of the Kashmir issue and that was the theme of their five point proposal.
He, however, said that the soft corner of the PDP towards the events that happened during the last few months has disappointed him which forced his party to part ways again.
