Stipend to unemployed:Omar Abdullah

Srinagar December 4: Omar Abdullah President J&K National Conference said that National Conference if voted to power will give stipend to the unemployed youth of the state till about the time they get suitably employed. Omar who addressed seven public meetings in five constituencies, three after sun set said the stipend so proposed will be a sustenance allowance for the unemployed youth and shall support them till they are employed. He said today PDP has again started taking about addressing the issue of unemployment, while from 2002 to 2008 when they were in government they conveniently forgot about their commitment of providing two jobs to each household doled out by them in the 2002 assembly elections.

Omar said the coalition government which came into power in 2002 by raising hollow slogans and making false promises did not address the problem of unemployment with the result that today there is restlessness among the youth.

NC President said the first priority of the National Conference after coming to power will be to take youth of the state out of hopelessness and despair by redressing the unemployment problem and for that he said the party will come out with a special package for employment of the youth and shall open new avenues for the young unemployed and ensure that in each household of the state there is atleast one earning hand.

Omar also promised that the National Conference after coming to power will fill the 40,000 posts lying vacant in various government departments through a fast track recruitment drive.

Omar Abdullah, who was addressing series of election meetings at Khag Beeru, Soibug Budgam, Uri and Charar-i- Sharief in support of Prof. Ab. Majeed Mattoo, Aga Syed Rahoola, Mohd Shafi Uri and Abdul Rahim Rather, said that the National Conference is the only party which can work as a bridge between Indian and Pakistani political leadership and assist both in creating a congenial atmosphere for better bilateral relationship.

Omar said his party has played a key role in the past for better Indo-Pak relations and shall continue to do so in the future as well in the interest of the two countries and for the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
