After Friday prayers, peaceful protests held in valley.

Thousands of people on Friday held peaceful protests across the Kashmir Valley in response to the call given by the coordination committee which is spearheading the ongoing movement.

According to reports and eyewitnesses, a huge procession was taken in Hyderpora after Friday prayers this afternoon. The protesters chanting Pro-freedom and Pro-Islam slogans were marching towards the residence of Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, when the police intercepted them and resorted to cane charge and fired teargas canisters to disperse them. 12 people were injured in the incident.

In Maisuma, hundreds of people took out a protest march amid vociferous pro-Islam and pro-freedom slogans .The protesters led by JKLF Vice Chairman Advocate Bashir Ahmed Bhat ,Showkat Bakshi, Jamiat Ahle Hadees President Moulana Showkat, Senior Hurriyat Leader Javed Ahmed Mir and Nisar Hussain Rather of Hurriyat (G) and Hurriyat (M) leader Shahid ul Islam dispersed peacefully at Budshah Chwok.

Similar processions were reported from the old city of Srinagar, particularly Nowhatta, where hundreds of people took to streets chanting pro-Islam and pro-freedom slogans.

The Newly elected Bar President, Mian Abdul Qayoom, led a procession from the High Court premises to Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower),.The procession later dispersed peacefully.

Reports of protests and clashes were also received from South Kashmir's Islamabad district on Friday.

According to reports, hundreds of people from Lal Chowk and adjoining areas took out a peaceful protest after Friday prayers in the town .The protesters staged a sit-in at Lal Chowk. However, the CRPF troops and police resorted to cane charge and fired rubber bullets to disperse the protesters.

In Janglat Mandi of the same district, the CRPF troops thrashed a youth for raising the pro-freedom slogans. The protesters in return got hold of the trooper and thrashed him to the pulp. The troops and police later resorted to cane charged and fired rubber bullets to disperse the angry protesters. More than a dozen people sustained injuries in the police action.

Reports of peaceful protests also poured in from different district of the valley. According to reports peaceful protests were held at Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla, Sopore, Ganderbal, Shopian, Pulwama, Islamabad, Kulgam and Budgam.
